Kevin Eldon

Kevin Eldon (born Kevin Robinson on 2 October 1959) is an English actor and comedian renowned for his prolific work across television, radio, film and stage. Raised in Chatham, Kent, he began his artistic journey in the late 1970s as a front‑man for several punk‑era bands, most notably Virginia Doesn’t and The Time, before turning to stand‑up comedy in the early 1990s where he created the eccentric political poet Paul Hamilton. Eldon's breakthrough came through his collaborations with Stewart Lee and Richard Herring, appearing as memorable characters such as Simon Quinlank and a parody of Rod Hull on the cult series Fist of Fun and This Morning with Richard Not Judy. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s he became a familiar face in British sketch comedy, contributing to seminal programmes like Big Train, Brass Eye, Jam and Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge. His versatility allowed him to transition into dramatic roles, earning minor speaking parts in the HBO epic Game of Thrones and an appearance as the police sniper in Four Lions. In 2013 the BBC commissioned his own six‑part sketch series It's Kevin, which showcased his talent for absurdist music numbers and recurring characters such as the obnoxious poet Paul Hamilton and the fictional northern gentleman Stanley Duthorpe. Beyond television, Eldon has voiced characters in animated series such as Danger Mouse, contributed to video games like Frobisher Says, and performed on stage with Bill Bailey, even co‑organising a West End production of Pinter's People. A practising Buddhist since 1990, he is married to art director Holly, whom he met on the set of Hyperdrive, and together they have two children. His career, spanning over three decades, remains a testament to his unique blend of surreal humor and relentless creativity.
