What's After the Movie
Kevin Chamberlin (born Seth Kevin Chamberlin on November 25, 1963) is an American actor and singer whose career spans more than four decades. Raised in Moorestown, New Jersey, he discovered his love for performance early, playing Huck Finn in a school production of Tom Sawyer and later graduating from Moorestown High School in 1981. He refined his craft at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, earning a B.F.A. in acting in 1985, and made his Broadway debut two years later in My Favorite Year. Chamberlin’s talent quickly earned critical acclaim, leading to three Tony Award nominations for his work in Dirty Blonde, Seussical (as the lovable Horton), and The Addams Family (as the iconic Uncle Fester), as well as multiple Drama Desk nods. His Broadway résumé also includes standout performances in Triumph of Love, Abe Lincoln in Illinois, Chicago, The Ritz, and a stint as the Wizard in the long‑running production of Wicked. Beyond the stage, Chamberlin has built a diverse film and television portfolio, appearing in the cult classic Trick (1999), the action‑packed Die Hard with a Vengeance, and the witty Lucky Number Slevin. He became a familiar face to younger audiences as Bertram Winkle on Disney Channel’s Jessie (2011‑2015) and as Dr. Fusion in Teen Beach Movie (2013). Recent years have seen him return to the concert stage, starring as Gusteau in a benefit streaming of Ratatouille and earning a Helen Hayes Award for his portrayal of Nicely‑Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls at the Kennedy Center. Openly gay, Kevin has been married to writer‑producer Michael Gans since 2008, and the couple continues to collaborate on creative projects, including Chamberlin’s 2025 solo show Finding the Joy at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.
