Jörgen Liik

Jörgen Liik was born on 12 March 1990 in the historic town of Kuressaare on Saaremaa Island, Estonia. He spent his formative years immersed in the cultural richness of Saare County, attending primary school at Orissaare Gymnasium from 1997 until 2003 and later graduating from Saaremaa Ühisgümnaasium in 2009. Driven by a passion for performance, Liik moved to Tallinn to study drama at the prestigious Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA), where he honed his craft and earned his degree in 2014. His early exposure to both academic rigor and regional folklore equipped him with a versatile acting palette, enabling him to transition seamlessly from stage to screen.

Liik’s professional career launched in 2013 with a television debut as Siim Pärtel in the historical drama Tuulepealne maa, followed swiftly by a recurring role as Janno Palm on the popular crime‑comedy series Kättemaksukontor. His first cinematic appearance came the same year in the musical short Viimane Romeo, and by 2016 he had secured his first feature‑length role as Sander in Polaarpoiss. The breakthrough came with the starring role of Hans in Rainer Sarnet’s fantasy‑drama November (2017), a film selected as Estonia’s entry for the 90th Academy Awards. Subsequent projects included Mehetapja/Süütu/Vari, Keti lõpp, Portugal, and the posthumously released Aurora (2025). In 2013 he received the Voldemar Panso Young Actors' Award, cementing his reputation as a rising talent. Liik married fellow actress Rea Lest in 2018, a partnership that also blossomed professionally through shared screen time. Tragically, his promising trajectory was cut short when he died on 11 July 2025 at the age of 35, leaving behind a legacy of critically acclaimed performances and a lasting impact on Estonian cinema.
