Jeremy Saulnier (/soʊˈnjeɪ/ soh-NYAY; born June 10, 1976) is an eminent American film director, cinematographer, and screenwriter highly renowned in the industry. Born in in Alexandria, Virginia, he ventured into the realm of filmmaking after earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in filmmaking with honors from New York University in 1998.

His career kickstarted in 2007 when he released his first feature film, Murder Party which was written and directed by him and starred his childhood friend, Macon Blair. He then took a leap in 2013, with the release of Blue Ruin which met with unwavering critical acclaim, earning a substantial 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a hearty 77/100 in Metacritic. This endeavor was celebrated with a nomination for the John Cassavetes Award at the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards and performed a run at Cannes. In 2015, Saulnier made his mark in the horror-thriller genre with his third feature film – Green Room, boasting cast members such as Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, and Imogen Poots. The film, distributed by A24, received an exceptional 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Following this, he worked on the adaptation of William Giraldi's 2014 thriller novel Hold the Dark for Netflix, with the screenplay written by Macon Blair.
