Janina Elkin

Janina Elkin was born on 20 December 1982 in Kyiv, Ukrainian Soviet Republic, then part of the USSR. From a young age she displayed a prodigious talent for movement, enrolling at the State Dance Academy in Kiev where she began formal training. At ten she relocated with her family to Heidelberg, Germany, and continued her artistic education at the State Ballet Academy in Mannheim, sharpening her technique as a classical ballet dancer. A scholarship later enabled her to cross the Atlantic and study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City between 2001 and 2004, where she absorbed method‑based techniques. Returning to Europe in 2004, Elkin transitioned from dance to acting, securing roles on stage and in German television.
