Inger Nilsson

Born on 4 May 1959 in Kisa, Sweden, Karin Inger Monica Nilsson entered the public eye at the tender age of eight when she was chosen to embody Astrid Lindgren’s iconic heroine Pippi Longstocking for the 1969 Swedish television series. The production, which was subsequently edited into two feature films and dubbed for audiences across Germany, England, and many other countries, propelled Nilsson to instant stardom and cemented her place in the cultural memory of a generation. Over the next year she reprised the role in four additional films—Pippi Goes on Board, Pippi in the South Seas, and Pippi on the Run—earning the TP de Oro award for “Most Popular Personage” in 1975. Since 2007 she has appeared regularly on Germany’s ZDF network as forensic pathologist Ewa in the long‑running series Der Kommissar und das Meer, demonstrating her versatility and linguistic adaptability. In 2009 she joined the celebrity reality show Kändisdjungeln, further underscoring her enduring appeal.
