What's After the Movie
Ibrahima Mbaye was born on 19 November 1994 in Guédiawaye, a suburb of Dakar, Senegal. He began his football education at the renowned Étoile Lusitana academy where his athleticism and defensive instincts quickly set him apart. In the summer of 2010 the talented youngster attracted the attention of Italian giants Internazionale, signing a pre‑contract that saw him relocate to Milan shortly after his sixteenth birthday. By January 2011 he officially joined Inter’s under‑17 squad and was promoted to the Primavera side for the 2011‑12 season, contributing to the team’s triumph in the NextGen Series and a domestic league title under coaches Andrea Stramaccioni and Daniele Bernazzani. Stramaccioni’s confidence in the teenager led to his inclusion in the first‑team pre‑season camp in July 2012, where Mbaye featured in friendly matches and helped Inter capture the TIM Trophy. He made his competitive debut in the Europa League qualifying round on 27 July 2012, filling in at left‑back while senior players rested, and shortly thereafter secured a new contract as he turned eighteen. Ibrahima Mbaye’s career continued its upward trajectory with a season‑long loan to Livorno in 2013‑14, followed by a brief stint at Bologna in early 2015 that turned permanent after the club earned promotion to Serie A. Over seven seasons he amassed over a hundred appearances for Bologna, displaying versatility as a right‑back and occasional midfielder before mutually terminating his contract in September 2022. He then signed for Romanian side CFR Cluj, and in July 2025 joined Serie C club Team Altamura. Internationally, Mbaye earned his first senior cap for Senegal in 2014 and was part of the historic squad that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, a triumph that brought him the honor of Grand Officer of the National Order of the Lion. Off the pitch, he was formally adopted by his agent Giuseppe Accardi in 2015 and is slated to receive Italian citizenship in December 2024, reflecting his deep ties to both his native Senegal and his adopted home in Italy.
