Homayoun Ershadi

Homayoun Ershadi was born on March 26, 1947 in Isfahan, Iran, a city renowned for its historic architecture and artistic heritage. After completing his primary schooling, he pursued higher education abroad, enrolling at the prestigious Ca' Foscari University of Venice where he earned a degree in architecture in 1970. Upon returning to Iran, Ershadi applied his training as a practicing architect, contributing to several urban projects before the upheaval of the 1979 Iranian Revolution forced him and his wife to relocate to Canada. Settling in Vancouver, he continued his architectural career while raising a family, and it was during this period that he experienced a profound cultural shift that later informed his artistic sensibilities. In 1990, following a divorce filing with his spouse, he returned to Iran and established himself in Tehran, where his unexpected encounter with filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami would change the trajectory of his professional life.
