Henry Vahl

Henry Vahl (born 26 October 1897 in Stralsund, German Empire) was a prolific German stage, film, and television actor whose career spanned over four decades. Beginning his screen work in 1935, Vahl quickly established himself as a versatile character performer, appearing in a wide range of genres from comedy to drama. He is perhaps best remembered for his long‑standing association with Hamburg’s Ohnsorg‑Theater, where, starting in 1958, he became one of the theatre’s most beloved stars, delighting audiences with his impeccable timing and warm stage presence. Vahl’s filmography includes notable titles such as The Muzzle (1958), The Angel Who Pawned Her Harp (1959), and The Heath Is Green (1972), showcasing his ability to transition seamlessly between the silver screen and television productions like Opa wird verkauft (1961) and Der Bürgermeisterstuhl (1969).

Beyond his individual achievements, Henry Vahl was part of a small acting dynasty; his younger brother, Bruno Vahl‑Berg, also pursued a career in acting, suggesting a familial dedication to the performing arts.
