**Hayley Sales** (born *August 31, 1990* in Washington, D.C., United States) is an American singer‑songwriter and actress whose eclectic blend of soul, pop, and acoustic rock has earned her international recognition since the mid‑2000s. Raised on a blueberry farm in Vancouver Island after her family moved from Portland, Oregon, she was immersed in music from infancy—her father engineered recordings for icons such as Miles Davis and the Ramones, while her mother’s background in dance and writing nurtured a creative household. Sales began piano lessons at age three, performed in local musical theatre, and by middle school had entered the Northwest Academy where she studied classical and jazz, mastering the Meisner technique and film‑making; she even secured the role of Juliet at twelve by misrepresenting her age.

Her professional breakthrough arrived when Steve Herman of Live Nation discovered her at a Vancouver showcase in 2005, leading to a contract with Universal Music Canada and the release of her debut album *Sunseed* in 2007, co‑produced with her father Richard. Singles “What You Want” and “Keep Drivin” charted in Canada and Japan, and she captured the Best Mainstream Artist award at the 2008 Canadian Radio Music Awards.
