Gijs Blom

Gijs Blom is a Dutch actor whose career has rapidly evolved from child performer to acclaimed young adult talent. Born on 2 January 1997 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, he grew up immersed in a theatrical environment as the son of stage actress Marloes van den Heuvel, which fostered his early fascination with performance. After completing a degree in theatre at the Amsterdam University of the Arts' Academy of Theatre and Dance in 2021, Blom has combined formal training with practical experience gained from his first professional role at age ten. From 2007 to 2009 he appeared in the musical Ciske de Rat, demonstrating an early aptitude for stage work that paved the way for his transition to screen. In 2011 he secured his debut feature‑film role in Maria Peeters' Sonny Boy, followed by small parts in the television films Urfeld and the German production Eine Frau verschwindet, establishing a pattern of diverse, multilingual projects. The turning point arrived in 2014 when he starred as Sieger in the coming‑of‑age romance Jongens, a performance that earned him critical praise and a Golden Calf nomination for Best Actor at the Netherlands Film Festival.
