Giacomo Gianniotti

Born in Rome, Italy on 19 June 1989, Giacomo Keaton Gianniotti grew up between two cultures after his parents' separation, moving with his Canadian mother to Parry Sound, Ontario and later to Toronto at sixteen. He attended Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts before honing his craft at Humber College's Theatre Program and completing a prestigious residency at Norman Jewison's Canadian Film Centre. Early on, Gianniotti landed a small film role at Rome's Cinecittà studios and made his television debut in the Italian series Medicina Generale (2010), demonstrating a fluency in both Italian and English performance styles. His multicultural upbringing and rigorous training have allowed him to seamlessly transition between stage, film, and television projects across Canada and Italy, while maintaining residences in both Toronto and Rome. From 2013 onward he built a solid television résumé with recurring roles in Reign and Murdoch Mysteries, a starring turn as Freddy in Selfie (2014), and a guest spot in Beauty & the Beast. His breakout in the United States arrived when he was cast as surgical intern Dr. Andrew DeLuca in Grey's Anatomy (2015), quickly becoming a series regular and earning a Tell‑Tale TV Award for Favorite Actor in a Network Drama Series in 2021. Gianniotti's film work includes leading the Diabolik franchise (Diabolik: Ginko Attacks! 2022, Diabolik: Who Are You? 2023) and appearing in Backpackers (2015). Recognized as a Top 25 Canadian Immigrant in 2019, he continues to expand his international profile with roles such as Elia in Netflix's Deceitful Love (2024) and Detective Ellis in Wild Cards (2024‑present). Off‑screen, he became engaged to makeup artist Nichole Gustafson in 2017 and married her in Italy on 28 April 2019.
