Fady Elsayed

Fady Elsayed was born on 15 September 1993 at St Mary’s Hospital in London, England, and grew up in a culturally rich household deeply rooted in his Egyptian heritage. From a young age he demonstrated a passion for performance, and at the age of sixteen he enrolled in The Young Actors Theatre in Islington, a drama school that would lay the groundwork for his future career. His early immersion in the London theatre scene sharpened his craft and instilled a disciplined work ethic that would later become evident in his diverse roles across screen and stage. Elsayed’s breakthrough came in 2012 when he secured the lead role of Mo in the critically acclaimed film My Brother the Devil, a performance that earned him a Best Newcomer nomination at the BFI London Film Festival and a nod from the ALFS as Young British Performer of the Year. This early success cemented his determination to pursue acting as a lifelong vocation and opened doors to a range of television appearances, including guest spots on Casualty and Silent Witness.

Building on his early momentum, Elsayed continued to expand his repertoire, portraying an Arabic‑speaking vampire in the 2014 series Penny Dreadful and landing the role of Ram Singh in the BBC Three Doctor Who spin‑off Class in 2016, a character that resonated with audiences and later returned in six Big Finish audio productions. His film work includes notable titles such as A Private War (2018) and a series of impactful television projects, from Channel 4’s Baghdad Central to Sky Atlantic’s Little Birds and the gritty crime drama Gangs of London (2022). Despite a brief setback when COVID‑19 prevented his participation in the Black Adam film, Elsayed’s career continued to thrive, leading to a high‑profile Puma ad campaign in 2021 and the release of his debut EP Promise Land in 2023, with proceeds supporting medical aid in Palestine. A practicing Muslim with a close‑knit family—three brothers and a sister—he remains connected to his roots and frequently collaborates with longtime friend and artist Little Simz, appearing in several of her music videos.
