Dylan Robert

Dylan Outerbridge Roberts (born July 17, 1989 in Denver, Colorado) is an American politician and attorney who has rapidly risen through Colorado's civic ranks. Raised by parents Stu and Lulu Roberts, he spent his early childhood in Denver before moving to Steamboat Springs in fourth grade, an experience that shaped his connection to rural communities. After graduating from Boston College with a BA in political science and environmental studies in 2011, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School, where he simultaneously worked as a legislative policy analyst for Rep. Mike Foote and as a student attorney for indigent defendants. His commitment to public service was evident early on, as he paused his college education in 2008 to open the first Obama campaign field office in Steamboat Springs for the 2008 presidential race, and later served as deputy state field director for the 2012 Obama campaign, overseeing a network of thirty‑plus staff across twenty‑two counties. Since entering elected office on November 13, 2017, Roberts has become known for his prolific legislative output, sponsoring dozens of bills each session and achieving a high passage rate. Notable achievements include authoring a pioneering cap on insulin co‑pays that inspired similar legislation nationwide, and expanding the Rural Jump‑Start Small Business Program to stimulate entrepreneurship in underserved areas. He chaired the House Rural Affairs & Agriculture Committee (2019‑2020) and later the Business Affairs & Labor Committee, while also serving on Judiciary and Agriculture committees. In 2022, he successfully campaigned for Colorado Senate District 8, winning by a large margin and continuing his advocacy for rural infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and criminal justice reform as a Deputy District Attorney in Eagle County. His career reflects a blend of legal expertise and legislative ambition, positioning him as a key Democratic voice for western Colorado.
