Dave Foley (born January 4, 1963) is a Canadian actor, stand-up comedian, director, producer and writer known for his diverse roles and contributions to the entertainment industry. Foley's fame primarily began with his co-founding of the comedy group The Kids in the Hall where he appeared in numerous television, stage and film productions, including the 1988–1995 television sketch comedy show of the same name and the 1996 film Brain Candy. Foley's acting portfolio is extensive, including roles in sitcoms like NewsRadio, voicing Flik in A Bug's Life, appearing in films such as Blast from the Past and Hot in Cleveland, and other appearances in Young Sheldon, and Fargo. A notably talented animator, Foley has voiced various characters in animated films, television series and video games, including characters in Toy Story 2, Cars, Robot Chicken, and Lego The Incredibles.
Foley's career started after dropping out of high school and pursuing standup comedy for about a year in Toronto Second City Training Centre. This is where he met Kevin McDonald, who helped him land a job as an usher at a local art house theatre. As an integral part of The Kids in the Hall, Foley became a notable name in the comedy scene. Foley's recent projects include the hit CBC Christmas Special, The True Meaning of Christmas Specials, and acting roles in How I Met Your Mother, How to Be a Gentleman, The Middle, Hot in Cleveland, Spun Out, and Fargo. Foley also had a celebrated run in the voicing field, lending his voice to characters in Fallout: New Vegas, Monsters University, Pound Puppies, Dan Vs., and the Prep & Landing series, among many others.
