Chyler Leigh

Chyler Leigh (born Chyler Leigh Potts on April 10, 1982) is an American actress, singer, and model whose career has spanned over two and a half decades, beginning with local television commercials and modeling work in Virginia Beach before relocating to Los Angeles at age 16. She made her film debut at fifteen in Kickboxing Academy and achieved breakout fame as Janey Briggs in the cult comedy Not Another Teen Movie (2001), a role that also earned her a cameo in Marilyn Manson’s “Tainted Love” music video and a spot on Maxim’s Hot 100 Women list in 2002. Leigh’s television résumé grew dramatically after starring in short‑lived series such as Girls Club and That ’80s Show, followed by a regular role on The Practice and a part in Reunion. Her most iconic television work came with the character Lexie Grey on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy (2007‑2012, 2021), where she became a beloved half‑sister to the titular surgeon and transitioned into a series regular for five seasons, ultimately leaving to prioritize family life. From 2015 to 2021 she portrayed Alex Danvers in the CW’s Supergirl, a performance that broadened her fan base, led to crossover appearances across the Arrowverse, and even earned her a directorial credit on the episode “Prom Again!”. Since 2023 she has co‑starred in Hallmark’s The Way Home, continuing to demonstrate versatility across genres.

Beyond acting, Leigh collaborates musically with her husband Nathan West under the moniker “WestLeigh”, releasing original songs such as “Love Lit the Sky” and “Nowhere”. A devout Christian, she credits her faith and community for overcoming early drug addiction, bipolar disorder, and a severe COVID‑19 case in 2020. Leigh is also an advocate for clean water initiatives through The Thirst Project and co‑founded the Create Change platform to support LGBTQ+ visibility, reflecting a career defined not only by on‑screen talent but by personal resilience and philanthropic commitment.
