Chris Chalk

Christopher Eugene Chalk, born on December 7, 1977 in Asheville, North Carolina, began his journey in the performing arts after graduating from Asheville High School in 1996 and later attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His early fascination with storytelling led him to the stage, where he earned critical acclaim for his portrayal in the 2010 Broadway production of Fences, showcasing a depth that would become his trademark. From these roots, Chalk transitioned to screen work, quickly establishing himself as a versatile actor capable of inhabiting vastly different worlds, from the legal dramas of Law & Order to the gritty intensity of Homeland where he played Marine Tom Walker. His breakout television roles include journalist Gary Cooper on The Newsroom, a performance that highlighted his ability to blend earnestness with sharp wit, and the menacing outlaw Jody Adair on Justified, which demonstrated his skill in portraying complex antagonists. In Gotham, Chalk brought a fresh perspective to the character of Lucius Fox, infusing the role with intelligence and gravitas, while his recent turn as a young Dick Hallorann in HBO’s It: Welcome to Derry added a haunting dimension to the beloved horror universe.  Beyond television, Chalk’s film credits feature notable appearances in 12 Years a Slave (2013), a poignant historical drama, and The Red Sea Diving Resort (2019), further cementing his reputation as a reliable supporting talent. In 2023, he expanded his artistic repertoire by directing the horror‑thriller Our Deadly Vows, marking a significant milestone as he stepped behind the camera. On a personal note, Chalk married actress Kimberley Dalton Mitchell in his hometown of Asheville on April 22, 2017, a union that reflects his deep ties to his North Carolina roots. Throughout his career, Chalk continues to pursue challenging roles that underscore his commitment to authentic storytelling and his growing influence both in front of and behind the lens.
