Barbara Eve Harris

Barbara Eve Harris (born Barbara Evadney Reid-Hibbert on March 8, 1959) is a Canadian actress whose career spans more than three decades of diverse television and film work. Born in Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaican parents, she migrated with her family to Canada at the age of six, a move that would shape her cultural identity and future opportunities in the North American entertainment industry. Growing up in a multicultural environment, Harris developed an early fascination with performance, eventually channeling that passion into formal acting studies after completing her secondary education. Her breakthrough came in the mid‑1980s, when she secured her first professional role, marking the beginning of a prolific period that would see her appear in over sixty television productions and numerous feature films. Harris’s talent for embodying authoritative figures—particularly law‑enforcement and medical professionals—has become a hallmark of her on‑screen presence, earning her both audience admiration and critical recognition. In 1995 she garnered a Gemini Award nomination for her leading role in the Canadian drama Side Effects, a testament to her versatility and depth as a performer. From the late 1990s onward, Harris expanded her résumé with guest‑starring appearances on a litany of American series, including Knots Landing, Party of Five, The West Wing, The Practice, CSI: Miami, ER, JAG, Commander in Chief, Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Rizzoli & Isles and Revenge. Her most recognizable role arrived in 2006 when she was cast as FBI Agent Felicia Lang in the Fox thriller Prison Break, a part she reprised through the show’s final season and its subsequent television movie The Final Break. Subsequent recurring roles saw her portray Sheriff Sherry Liston on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2011‑2012), Commander Emma Crowley on Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire (2015‑2017), and Lt. Marcia Roark on the short‑lived ABC series Forever (2014). In recent years Harris has continued to secure high‑profile projects, co‑starring in HBO’s acclaimed miniseries Sharp Objects (2018) and the Netflix thriller Messiah (2020). Most notably, in 2023 she appeared as Dot, a regional CIA director, in the action‑comedy FUBAR alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, demonstrating her enduring relevance and adaptability in an ever‑changing industry.
