Aurora Sevilla

Aurora Elvira Gayoso Sevilla, known professionally as Aurora Sevilla, was born on October 26, 1963, in the Philippines, into a military family as the daughter of Colonel Arturo Sevilla of the Philippine Air Force, who tragically passed away when she was merely in grade three. She first captured national attention in the competitive beauty pageant circuit, earning the title of Ms. Press Photography in 1983 before achieving the pinnacle of Philippine pageantry by being crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas - World 1984. This prestigious victory granted her the honor of representing the Philippines at the Miss World 1984 pageant held in London, where she competed against international delegates. Following the trajectory typical of successful beauty queens of her era, Sevilla seamlessly transitioned into the entertainment industry, leveraging her striking appearance and newly acquired fame to embark upon an acting career that would span several decades. Her entry into show business was strategically timed during the golden age of Philippine action cinema, where she quickly established herself as a prominent leading lady capable of holding her own opposite the industry's biggest action stars.

Sevilla made her film debut in Okleng Tokleng (1986) and subsequently secured a role in the epic television series Agila (1987-1992), which aired across major networks including RPN and ABS-CBN, solidifying her presence in both film and television. Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, she became a staple in the action genre, starring alongside legendary performers such as Bong Revilla, Ronnie Ricketts, Phillip Salvador, Robin Padilla, Lito Lapid, and Eddie Garcia in numerous commercially successful productions. Her extensive filmography encompasses notable titles including Chinatown: Sa Kuko ng Dragon (1988), Joe Pring: Homicide Manila Police (1989), and Manila Boy (1993), demonstrating her versatility and durability as a performer. After a period of relative absence from the screen, she returned to television through GMA Network's Wish Ko Lang and the drama series Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Ain (2009), later joining the cast of ABS-CBN's acclaimed series The Killer Bride (2019) alongside Maja Salvador. Academically accomplished, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Saint Paul College and ventured into entrepreneurship utilizing her film earnings. In her personal life, she is a dedicated single parent to two children, Joshua and Ali, and has navigated significant challenges including legal issues in 2009 related to drug charges in Mandaluyong, yet she has continued to pursue her craft with recent appearances in films such as Expensive Candy (2022) and Nagalit ang Patay sa Haba ng Lamay: Da Resbak (2023).
