Anthony Boyle

Anthony Boyle is an Irish actor whose rapid rise from the streets of west Belfast to the stages of London and New York has made him a notable figure in contemporary theatre and screen work. Born on 8 June 1994 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he spent his early years attending De La Salle College and St Louise's Comprehensive College before a childhood bone condition confined him to a wheelchair, an experience he says sharpened his imagination and improvisational skills while he listened to peers play. Expelled at sixteen and briefly employed at a nightclub where he was dismissed for drinking, Boyle turned to acting in low‑budget productions, including a poorly received version of Romeo and Juliet alongside future friend Lola Petticrew. In 2013 he enrolled at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, earning a BA in acting in 2016 and launching a professional career that same year. His breakthrough came when he originated the role of Scorpius Malfoy in the West End and later Broadway productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a performance that earned him the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play.
