Annika Blendl

Annika Greta Blendl (born 16 June 1982 in Regensburg, Germany) is a versatile German actress, film director and producer who has built a substantial career across television, cinema and documentary filmmaking. Raised in a large family with five siblings, she displayed prodigious musical talent early on, winning first place twice in the national Jugend musiziert competition while studying violin, which laid a disciplined artistic foundation. After completing her schooling she moved from Cologne to Berlin, inspired by her older sister Mareile, and entered the world of visual media by modeling for fashion brands and appearing in commercials before securing her first television role as Lisa Nordbrock in the 2002 TV film Love Crash. From there, Blendl accumulated a diverse portfolio of roles, ranging from feature films such as Michael Klier’s Farland (2004) and Christian Petzold’s Ghosts (2005) to prominent television series including Tatort, SK Kölsch, SOKO Wismar and the long‑running crime drama Kommissar Dupin where she portrayed police secretary Nolwenn from 2014 to 2020. In 2019 she was cast as Detective Pia Walther in ZDF’s Das Quartett, a performance that highlighted her ability to convey complex emotional states while navigating a gritty procedural narrative. Parallel to her acting work, Blendl pursued documentary directing at the University of Television and Film Munich, co‑founded the Man on Mars Filmproduktion in 2012, and produced the award‑winning documentary Mollath – “And Suddenly You’re Crazy” (2015). Her directorial debut All I Never Wanted (2019), co‑directed with Leonie Stade, blends fiction and documentary techniques and showcases her evolving visual storytelling style. Outside of her professional life she shares a partnership with actor Alexander Beyer, with whom she has a son, and continues to influence German screen culture through both performance and behind‑the‑scenes craftsmanship.
