**Alexandra Shipp** (born July 16, 1991) is a phenomenal American actress and singer whose career gained momentum after portraying the famous singer Aaliyah in the Lifetime television film *Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B* (2014) and Kimberly Woodruff in the film *Straight Outta Compton* (2015). She is predominantly recognized for playing Storm in the X-Men franchise, starting with *X-Men: Apocalypse*. Furthermore, she acted as Abby Suso in the 2018 romantic comedy *Love, Simon*, and Susan Wilson in the musical drama tick, tick... BOOM! Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Shipp was brought up in an environment inclined towards arts and marketing with her mother being a Kundalini yoga teacher and father, a marketing executive. She discovered her passion for acting early on and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 to pursue the same. Her acting prowess was initially noted in her debut film, *Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel* where she played a minor role, before rising to fame with her subsequent roles. Shipp's versatility in acting has been showcased through her varied performances, such as her role as Dani Raymond in the VH1 television film sequel *Drumline: A New Beat*, and as Ororo Munroe/Storm, a weather-controlling mutant in Bryan Singer's superhero film *X-Men: Apocalypse*. Her recent endeavors include starring in Greta Gerwig's *Barbie* released on July 21, 2023.
