Alexandra Beaton

Alexandra Beaton was born on 5 December 1994 in Ontario, Canada, and grew up near the small community of Claremont. From the moment she could walk, she was drawn to movement, enrolling in ballet classes at the age of two and stepping onto a stage for her first acting gig when she was five. Raised alongside her younger sister Sophie, Beaton’s family nurtured her artistic ambitions, encouraging a balance of disciplined training and creative exploration. Her early immersion in dance and performance laid a solid foundation for a career that would blend physical expression with dramatic storytelling. While still attending school, she pursued a passion for political science at the University of Guelph, a field she says helped her think critically and deepen her understanding of human motivations, a skill that later proved invaluable on screen.

Beaton made her professional debut in the 2006 epic 300, marking the start of a steady climb in the entertainment industry. After appearing in numerous television commercials, she landed the role of Emily on the popular Family Channel series The Next Step in 2013, a character she described as “a bit of a mean girl” and more confrontational than her real-life persona. Over seven seasons, she became the most experienced cast member, often favoring acting scenes over the show's dance numbers. Her versatility extended to the web series Spiral (2017) as Emma and the Lifetime film The Cheerleader Escort (2019) as Cassie. Most recently, Beaton joined the Syfy horror franchise with a role as a cheerleader in Bring It On: Cheer or Die (2022), demonstrating her continued relevance and adaptability in a range of genres.
