Alex Hafner

Alex Hafner (born 30 April 1989 in Vienna, Austria) is an internationally‑recognised film and television actor whose career has spanned a diverse range of genres and markets. The son of a Spanish engineer and an Italian economist, Alex grew up in a multilingual household, becoming fluent in German, Spanish, English and French, and spent his childhood moving between Madrid, Vienna, and Singapore before settling in California where he attended school in Beverly Hills and later earned a master’s degree from the University of Southern California. He made his screen debut in Daniel Calparsoro’s Invader (Spanish title Invasor), sharing the frame with Alberto Amann and Inma Cuesta, and quickly progressed to high‑profile projects such as Ridley Scott’s The Counselor, a star‑studded thriller featuring Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, Penélope Cruz and Brad Pitt. Subsequent roles included the thriller Extinction alongside Matthew Fox and Jeffrey Donovan, and a supporting part in Project Lazarus (2015) with Charlotte Le Bon and Oona Chaplin. In 2016 he appeared in the Wim Wenders‑directed Submergence with James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander, and in 2017 was cast in Gabriella Cowperthwaite’s Megan Leavey starring Kate Mara. Alex has also made a significant impact on Spanish‑language television, playing Trevor Simmons, the love interest of Judith Becker (Cristina Castaño), in the popular sitcom La Que Se Avecina, and starring in Netflix rom‑com A Pesar de Todo alongside Blanca Suarez and Amaia Salamanca. His recent work includes the horror thriller Let It Snow (2019) with Ivanna Sakhno, a regular role in BBC One’s The Mallorca Files (season 2), and a journalist part in the final season of Netflix’s Cable Girls. Beyond acting, Alex is an active collaborator with environmental and humanitarian NGOs such as Greenpeace and Proactiva Open Arms, and was honored as Cosmopolitan Spain’s “Cosmo Man” in February 2021.
