Adan Jodorowsky

Adán Jodorowsky (born 29 October 1979 in Mexico City) is a French‑Mexican artistic polymath best known as a musician, film director and actor. He is the son of the avant‑garde filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky and Mexican actress Valérie Trumblay, and grew up surrounded by a family of performers that includes his brothers Brontis and Axel and his niece Alma. His early exposure to cinema led to his breakthrough acting role as the young Fénix in his father’s cult classic Santa Sangre (1989), a performance that earned him the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor. After a period of acting in independent projects such as Julie Delpy’s 2 Days in Paris (2007), Jodorowsky turned his focus toward music, releasing his debut solo album Étoile Éternelle under the moniker Adanowsky in October 2006. The lead single “L’idole” (also recorded in Spanish as “El Ídolo”) showcased his knack for blending alternative, indie and art‑rock influences with lyrical storytelling. He followed with a succession of well‑received records – El Ídolo (2008), Amador (2011) and Ada (2014) – each cementing his reputation as a charismatic front‑man and inventive songwriter. Collaborations with artists such as Devendra Banhart, Alizée and Mexican rock icon León Larregui broadened his cross‑cultural appeal. Parallel to his music career, Jodorowsky expanded into directing, scoring, and producing films; notable works include The Voice Thief (2014), which garnered five awards for Best Director and Best Film, and the soundtrack for his father’s semi‑autobiographical film The Dance of Reality (2013). His multidisciplinary pursuits have earned him the UFI “Best International Artist of the Year” award in 2011 and steady recognition in fashion‑film circuits, exemplified by the ASVOFF selection in 2014. Continually oscillating between the silver screen and the stage, Adán Jodorowsky remains a vibrant figure whose creative output reflects a synthesis of his legendary lineage and his own avant‑garde sensibilities.
