Against the advice of his best friend Ted, Anderson makes a sweeping, impulsive gesture in a crowded restaurant, proposing to his girlfriend Vanessa while dressed in a Cupid costume. The moment is so shocking that Vanessa collapses with a fatal heart attack, leaving Anderson shattered and utterly alone with the consequences of a single, ill-judged gesture.
Devastation consumes him. He quits his job and sinks into a long, painful mourning for the life he thought he had. A year passes, and his friend Ted quietly notes that Anderson has been mourning longer than their relationship ever lasted. Ted quietly nudges him toward a fragile future: maybe romance hasn’t run its course, perhaps there’s a chance to start again.
