What Is Extracted About?

Thomas Jacobs develops technology allowing him to observe people’s memories firsthand. Despite ethical concerns, he agrees to enter the memories of a heroin addict to investigate a crime. A technical error traps his consciousness within the addict’s mind, holding him captive for over four years. While imprisoned, he searches for a way to break free from the fragmented and unsettling memories.

Tom, a dedicated scientist, invents a groundbreaking machine that allows a person to enter the subconscious of another individual. However, he faces a pressing challenge in securing funding to finalize his prototype. Faced with mounting pressure, he reluctantly accepts financial backing from an anonymous investor who later reveals their true intentions. The investor, an official at the Department of Corrections, wishes to exploit the machine for extracting involuntary confessions from inmates. Initially horrified by this unethical proposition, Tom is persuaded by his entrepreneurial friend to go ahead with it.
