This lyrical documentary takes an in-depth look at the lives of Austin’s emerging musicians, showcasing their struggles and triumphs as they wrestle with significant issues such as artistic integrity, commercialism, experimentation, and the future of their cherished city. Amidst this backdrop, we meet rising star Black Joe Lewis, a soulful revivalist whose evenings are filled with sold-out concerts, while his days are spent delivering fish. Then we have Cari Palazzolo, part of the synth-pop phenomenon Belaire, who is on the brink of commercial success but grapples with the idea of her music becoming merely a product. Furthermore, we are introduced to the experimental troubadour Bill Baird, whose band, Sound Team, reached for the stars with a major label deal through Capitol Records, only to face disappointment after just one album, leading to their drop from the label.
