On a remote country road, Todd Acosta, [Rod Hernandez], his girlfriend Sarah Fletcher, [Alexa Yeames], and their carpooling friends Jodi, [Kelly Connaire], Keren, [Stephanie Pearson], Jeff, [Jason Tobias], and Eric, [Anthony Kirlew], find themselves stranded when their SUV suffers a tire blowout. As they attempt to change the tire, a silent sniper suddenly kills [Jeff], plunging the group into chaos. The unseen shooter then turns their attention to [Sarah Fletcher], and she is shot next, forcing [Eric] to dive for cover behind a tree stump while [Jodi], [Keren], and Todd hide behind the vehicle. The sniper proves relentless, even shooting a cellphone off a selfie stick as the trio behind the car tries to call 911 for help.
In a tense scramble for survival, [Keren] uses her hoodie to create a distraction, giving Todd a narrow chance to act. Todd, who is also grappling with a slug wound in his arm, struggles to put the SUV in neutral so they can roll to safer cover, while [Eric] quietly films the sniper’s position with his cellphone to gain a critical edge. When another round hits, Todd retrieves a toolbox and tapes its metal lid to his arm for protection, taking a hit in the process but managing to get the SUV moving on a second attempt. The vehicle’s motion causes a brief sense of momentum before it rolls in the opposite direction, and the sniper shatters that hope by shooting out another tire and disabling the car again.
Eric attempts a desperate sprint toward the nearby trees, but the sniper wounds him in his ankle and leg, dropping him to the ground where he loses consciousness. In a cruel moment of improvisation, [Keren] uses a heated hammerhead to cauterize Todd’s arm wound, then the group shares a small amount of water from the backseat as they trade swigs while waiting for a safe moment to escape. The sniper interrupts, striking Eric through his hand as he tries to take a drink, and the situation grows ever more desperate.
In a quiet interlude, Todd reveals a painful truth to his companions: his girlfriend Sarah was pregnant but lost the baby. The weight of that confession hangs in the air as Todd tightens a shirt over Sarah’s face, a gesture meant to block the sniper’s view. Somehow, the sniper hesitates, and for a brief moment the danger feels suspended. Tragically, Eric succumbs to blood loss and dies before he can be saved.
Hope flickers when a vehicle approaches in the distance, but the sniper resumes fire, killing Todd to prevent him from flagging down the passenger car. The sniper also wounds the female driver’s hand, causing the car she’s in to lose control and flip, ejecting her daughter from the backseat. The mother is shot as she attempts to reach her child, and the father drags his wife toward safety as the friend group desperately pleads for someone to call 911. The sniper then ignites the scene by shooting the flipped vehicle’s gas tank, causing a devastating explosion that kills the mother and father, and the sniper proceeds to execute the daughter in front of them.
When night falls, [Keren] and [Jodi] light a fire in their SUV to create a smoky screen they hope will offer an escape route. A sheriff arrives at the scene with a deputy and two marksmen, but the sniper eliminates one of the sharpshooters and even the sheriff, sending the truck skidding. [Keren] makes a break for it through the smoke, but the sniper takes her life with a precise shot to the head.
[Jodi] regroups at the sheriff’s truck with the remaining deputy and marksman, narrowly avoiding another deadly strike as the sniper kills both of them. She then drives toward the sniper’s position, slamming into the tree where the shooter perched, sending him crashing to the ground after he loosens the rope binding him. Jodi wrests the sniper’s rifle from the ground, firing multiple times in a desperate bid for justice. When the gun jams, she bashes the sniper with the rifle’s stock, delivering a brutal, final onslaught.
As the struggle unfolds, Jodi discovers tally marks etched on the rifle—each mark a name, including her five fallen friends. Enraged and shattered, she fires one last shot that misfires, and in a grim twist, the rifle fires a final bullet that rips through her throat, ending her fight in a bleak, solitary victory. The road goes silent, leaving only memories of the group’s desperate struggle and the sniper’s ruthless tally.
