Born to Dance 2015

On leave from the navy, Ted Barker slides into a night of chance and charm at the Lonely Hearts Club, where he meets Nora Paige. The venue is owned by Jenny Saks, the wife of fellow sailor Gunny Saks, and right away Ted feels a spark that grows into something deeper as he gets to know Nora. She shares a quiet ambition and a warmth that makes Ted see a future beyond the next port, and the moment is charged with possibility as their conversations unfold amid the club’s music and glow.

Not long after, Ted encounters Broadway glamour on a submarine, where he meets Lucy James, a star whose publicity tour brings her into his orbit. When her Pekingese dog falls overboard, Ted steps in to save the little dog, and Lucy’s polite admiration blooms into something more personal. Their budding attraction is complicated by duty, because Ted’s captain, Dingby, orders him to meet Lucy in a nightclub, pulling him away from Nora and into a new, alluring triangle that tests his loyalties and desire.

Back on dry land, Nora lives with Jenny and Jenny’s daughter Sally, all while chasing her own dream of becoming a Broadway dancer.
