What's After the Movie
Victoria Koblenko is a Dutch actress, presenter, columnist, and humanitarian of Ukrainian descent, born on 19 December 1980 in Vinnitsa, Ukrainian SSR (now Vinnytsia, Ukraine). Raised as an only child in Ukraine, she relocated to the Netherlands at age twelve, where she excelled academically at Krimpenerwaard College, mastering English, German, French, Latin, Greek, and her native Russian and Ukrainian, later adding Dutch as a second native language. She earned a BSc in Political Science from Leiden University in 2008, and while she began studies in Russian science, she did not complete them. Her multilingual abilities have made her a frequent guest on Dutch television talk shows, where she offers insight on Ukrainian political affairs, including the Dutch referendum on the Association Agreement and the ongoing Russo‑Ukrainian war.
Koblenko’s acting career launched unexpectedly when she appeared in TV commercials as a teenager, but she rose to national fame portraying Isabella Kortenaer in the long‑running soap opera Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden from 2000 to 2010. She earned critical acclaim and the Favorite Actress Award at the 2004 Dutch Film Festival for her role as Marieke in the psychological thriller Stille Nacht. Subsequent notable performances include the horror film Doodeind (2006), the award‑winning short American Dreams (2006), and the series Vuurzee. Her repertoire extends to Russian‑language productions such as Heritage and Sisters. Beyond screen work, she has written columns for Trouw, participated as an election observer in Ukraine, and collaborated with Amnesty International, UNICEF, and Doctors Without Borders on humanitarian projects, underscoring her commitment to global social issues.
