What's After the Movie
Mitsuhiro Oikawa (及川 光博), also known by the nicknames Mitchy and Prince, is a versatile Japanese entertainer born on October 24, 1969 in Ōta, Tokyo. Raised in a family that appreciated the arts, he attended Seijo Gakuen Junior High and High School before graduating from the Faculty of Law at Seijo University, a background that would later inform his disciplined approach to both music and acting. His professional career began in 1996 when he debuted as a singer with the single 'Morality', quickly establishing himself in the pop, funk, and rock scenes while simultaneously performing on stage with his band. In August 1998 he famously proclaimed himself the “Prince” during the televised event Hitori no Big Show 98: Mamiya no Seisen, a self‑styled persona that has lingered throughout his public image. The same year marked his transition to screen acting, with his first drama appearance in 'With Love', launching a parallel trajectory that would see him appear in numerous television series, films, and commercials. Oikawa’s personal life entered the spotlight when he married actress and former Takarazuka Revue star Rei Dan on July 27 2011; the couple’s marriage ended amicably in November 2018. Professionally, he has navigated multiple agency relationships: originally represented by Mother Enterprise, he forged a business partnership with Horipro in 2012, later shifting his acting management to DG Agent while retaining his music affiliation with Horipro. Throughout his more than two‑decade‑long career, Oikawa has released dozens of singles and albums, contributed as a composer and lyricist, and earned a reputation for energetic live performances. In 2023 he broadened his dramatic range by portraying an antagonist in the culinary drama 'Fermat Kitchen', demonstrating that his artistic evolution continues unabated.
